AI brand monitoring

Best AI brand monitoring tools in 2026

Monitoring tells you what changed; it does not tell you who took the answer. This guide sorts the tools by the job, including which run competitor intelligence on the rivals being named instead, with claims taken from each vendor's own pages on a stated date.

The short answer

Which tool should you choose?

For mention tracking across AI answers, with sentiment and cited sources, Semrush and Ahrefs add it beside the SEO tools you may already pay for, and Similarweb reports it beside traffic data. For dedicated AI mention analytics, Otterly AI, Peec AI, Scrunch AI, AnswerRank and Goodie AI track a prompt set you set up and report mentions, share of voice, position, sentiment and citations.

There is a second, narrower job that looks similar and is not the same thing. Mention monitoring counts appearances. Recommendation intelligence asks whether an assistant names your business at the moment a customer is choosing one, and which businesses it names instead. GetRanked AI is built around that second question for one business at a time.

Everything below is taken from each vendor's own pages on the date shown at the top, with the sources repeated on the linked comparison page. Nothing here is scored or ranked.

Measure the outcome before you choose a tool

Brand monitoring in AI answers is a real and useful discipline. The tools here watch mentions, sentiment, share of voice and cited sources, and the better ones do it daily across several engines.

Monitoring tells you what changed. It does not, on its own, tell you where you stand: whether the assistants recommend your business to a buyer who is choosing, and which businesses take the answers you are missing.

That diagnosis is what makes monitoring worth paying for, because it tells you what is worth watching. Run the free GetRanked AI scan first, then pick the monitor. Where GetRanked AI differs is the competitor intelligence: the GetRanked Algo names the businesses the assistants recommended in your place through Competitor Capture, builds a dossier on each with Competitor Radar, and prints the reason and sources with Decision Trace, all from the answers themselves rather than a list you supply. Staying ahead is the ongoing half: tracked competitors are re-read on the ongoing plans and Recommendation Delta measures which answers you gained and lost between two comparable readings, so you can see whether the gap to the businesses AI names is widening or closing. Those plans are listed on the pricing page and are not open for self-serve purchase yet.

The category

Mention monitoring and recommendation intelligence are two different measurements

AI brand monitoring grew out of social and media monitoring, and it kept the same shape. You define a set of prompts, the tool runs them against AI assistants on a schedule, and it reports how often your brand appeared, where in the answer it sat, how it was described, and which sources the assistant drew on. That is a volume and tone measurement, and it is genuinely useful: it tells you whether a brand is present in the conversation at all, and whether the conversation is flattering.

Recommendation intelligence asks a narrower question with a harder answer. When a prospective customer describes a problem and asks an assistant who to use, does the assistant put this specific business forward as an option, or does it put someone else forward? A brand can be mentioned often and still never be the recommendation. It can also be described warmly and still lose the buying moment to a rival the assistant found easier to stand behind.

The practical difference shows up in what you do next. A mention report sends you to publish more, get cited more and improve the tone. A recommendation report sends you to the specific answers where a rival was named instead of you, and to the evidence an assistant could not find about your business. Most of the tools on this page do the first job well. A few of them touch the second, and their own pages say so in different words: Otterly AI describes citation tracking that records which rival an answer names instead, and Goodie AI describes showing whose story wins the recommendation instead of yours.

Neither job replaces the other. If you run a brand across markets, mention monitoring is the programme. If you are one business trying to win the moment a buyer asks for a name, recommendation intelligence is the answer you actually need.

Mention monitoring
Counting how often a brand appears in AI answers to a set of tracked prompts, usually with position and trend over time.
Sentiment
How an AI answer describes a brand, reported as positive, neutral or negative, or as a net score.
Share of voice
A brand's share of the mentions in AI answers compared with named competitors.
Citations
The sources an assistant used or linked when writing an answer, often reported by domain.
AI Recommendation Intelligence
GetRanked AI's term for measuring whether assistants recommend a specific business to its prospective customers, which businesses they name instead, and what evidence was missing.

How we evaluated

What we looked at, and what we did not

We read each vendor's own website on the date shown and recorded what it advertises against nine buyer-relevant criteria: what the product is for, what it measures in AI answers, whether it shows who was named instead, what it says about citations and evidence, whether it produces a list of actions, how much traditional SEO it carries, who it is sold to, and whether prices are published. We did not run paid trials of every product and we do not give scores.

Where a vendor's pages do not mention something, the table says "not publicly advertised". That is a statement about the pages we read, not a claim that a capability is missing.

  • Principal purposeWhat the product is built to do, in its own terms.
  • Recommendation outcomeWhether it tells a business that AI recommends it, rather than counting mentions.
  • Starts from your businessWhether you can begin with your website instead of building a prompt project.
  • Recommendation GapWhether it shows the buying questions where a business could be named and is not.
  • Competitor CaptureWhether it names the businesses the assistants recommend instead.
  • Competitor discoveryWhether competitors surface from the answers, or must be known and added first.
  • Evidence CoverageWhether it shows which sources shaped the answer and what was missing.
  • What to do firstWhether it produces a prioritised list of things to change.
  • Plain-English verdictWhether the output is a decision a business owner can act on, not only analytics.
  • Try before committingWhether a business can learn something real before paying for a subscription.
  • Traditional SEO suiteKeyword research, rank tracking, site audits, backlinks.
  • Keyword researchA keyword database and research workflow.
  • Backlink databaseA link index and link analysis.
  • Content productionWriting, briefs and on-page optimisation.
  • Technical auditingCrawling and technical site health.
  • Multi-client dashboardsManaging many sites or clients in one place.
  • Enterprise integrationsAPIs, warehouses and BI connectors.
  • Prompt managementBuilding and maintaining a tracked prompt set at scale.
  • Intended customerWho the vendor says the product is for.
  • Public pricingWhether prices are published, so a buyer can size a plan before a sales call.

GetRanked AI

AI Recommendation Intelligence

See pricing

GetRanked AI is AI Recommendation Intelligence, our term for measuring one thing about one business. Enter a website and it measures how leading AI assistants respond when prospective customers are looking for a business like yours, then reports an AI Trust Score, the Recommendation Gap, Competitor Capture and Evidence Coverage with a prioritised list of fixes in plain English.

Fits: Owners and marketing leads who want to know whether the assistants put their business forward to a buyer, and what is missing when they do not.

Worth knowing: It is a report on one business at a time, not a monitoring dashboard, and it does no keyword research, rank tracking or backlink analysis. Ongoing plans are listed on the pricing page but are not yet open for self-serve purchase.

Semrush

SEO platformRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Semrush is a full SEO platform with an AI Visibility toolkit inside it. That toolkit tracks how often a brand is mentioned, cited and recommended across AI platforms, and adds prompt research from a large prompt database, sentiment reporting and an AI-Cited Media view of the sources behind the answers. An AI search health audit produces a prioritised checklist of technical fixes.

Fits: SEO teams, agencies and marketers who want brand mentions in AI answers reported in the same subscription as rankings and backlinks.

Worth knowing: Prompts come from a database or are typed by the user, so the view is of a prompt set rather than of one business's own buyers.

Ahrefs

SEO platformRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Ahrefs pairs its search data platform with Brand Radar, which measures mentions, citations, AI Share of Voice and estimated impressions across AI answers. It offers two routes: a pre-collected AI Visibility Index that needs no setup, and Custom Prompts you add yourself and refresh as often as daily. Bot Analytics shows AI crawlers hitting the site in real time.

Fits: Teams already working inside Ahrefs who want brand mentions in AI answers beside keywords, backlinks and site audits.

Worth knowing: Prompt checks are metered: tracking one prompt on one platform in one location uses one check, and the Brand Radar AI add-on carries its own price.

Similarweb

Traffic intelligenceRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Similarweb is a digital intelligence platform whose AI Search Intelligence product covers brand visibility, prompt tracking, citations and sentiment. Its prompts are drawn from real AI searches and grouped by the topics you choose, and it shows the top 30 brands for each of those topics. Citation Analysis tracks the domains that assistants cite most often, daily, with domain influence scoring.

Fits: Marketing, research and enterprise teams that want AI mentions read beside market and traffic data, including visits arriving from AI chatbots.

Worth knowing: Plan-by-plan pricing was not publicly listed when checked; the pricing page routes to packages and a sales conversation.

Otterly AI

AI visibility trackerRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Otterly AI tracks brand mentions, share of voice, average rank, net sentiment and cited URLs daily for the prompts you choose. Its citation tracking records every cited URL, whether it names you, and which rival it names instead, and gap analysis surfaces prompts where competitors are named and you are not. A GEO audit tests AI crawlers against robots.txt and scores pages on structural and readiness checks.

Fits: Small teams and agencies that want daily monitoring with open data access through an API, an MCP server and a Looker Studio connector.

Worth knowing: Four engines are included on the entry plan and three more are sold as paid add-ons, with the add-on prices captured only as a range.

Peec AI

AI visibility trackerRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Peec AI is AI search analytics: visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice tracked daily for the prompts you set up, against the competitors you name. Source analytics reports which URLs and domains assistants access and cite, and ranks by Gap Score the sources where competitors are cited and the brand is not. Brand attribute scoring shows the distance between what AI says a brand is known for and where it sits in the market.

Fits: SEO and marketing teams that want daily competitor-benchmarked analytics, and agencies that want client workspaces without per-seat fees.

Worth knowing: Plans were displayed in euros when checked, and per-plan values for countries, languages and competitors could not be read reliably.

Scrunch AI

AI visibility trackerRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Scrunch AI collects actual responses from major AI platforms and reports share of answer, position, sentiment and citations. Results can be filtered by topic, persona, model and region, so a large brand can see how monitoring differs by segment. Its Agent Experience Platform sits at the CDN layer and serves AI retrieval bots a simplified version of each page while ordinary search crawlers see the normal site.

Fits: Marketing teams and enterprises tracking many prompts who also want control over what AI bots read on the site.

Worth knowing: Its FAQ page and pricing page disagreed on plan names and trial terms, so the pricing page was used.

Goodie AI

AI visibility trackerRead 4 September 2026

Full comparison and sources

Goodie AI calls itself a full-stack answer engine optimisation platform built as a loop: research, monitor, act and measure. Monitoring covers visibility, sentiment, share of voice and competitive positioning across the models on the plan, and its Brand Command feature is described as showing where AI gets your brand wrong and whose story wins the recommendation instead of yours. Analytics ties visibility back to traffic and revenue through Google Analytics and CRM.

Fits: Enterprise marketing teams and agencies that want monitoring, an action quota and attribution reported from one place.

Worth knowing: The pages do not state whether the raw assistant answer text is shown per prompt, only that every answer is measured.

Which fits which buyer

Match the tool to the situation

Similarweb or Scrunch AI or Peec AI

A brand team watching tone and presence across markets

This is the classic monitoring job. All three report sentiment and share of voice, Scrunch AI adds persona and region filters, and Similarweb draws its prompts from real AI searches and shows the top brands per topic.

Monitoring shows movement. The free scan shows where you stand and who is taking the answers you are missing.

Semrush or Ahrefs

An SEO team adding AI mentions to existing reporting

Semrush and Ahrefs both track mentions, citations and share of voice in AI answers beside keywords and backlinks, with published plan limits so you can size the subscription first.

Run the free scan first so the monitoring has a baseline worth watching.

Otterly AI or AnswerRank

A small team that wants monitoring without a large bill

Both publish small entry plans with a trial. Otterly AI tracks mentions, sentiment and cited URLs daily; AnswerRank tracks appearance, top position rate and sentiment, and adds sessions with a human AI search expert on its higher tiers.

Pair it with a GetRanked AI report when you need to explain to somebody why a rival is being named.

GetRanked AI or Goodie AI

A business that wants to know why a rival got the answer

This is the recommendation question rather than the mention count. GetRanked AI reports the Recommendation Gap and names the businesses that captured the answer instead, with the evidence that was missing. Goodie AI frames Brand Command around whose story wins the recommendation.

GetRanked AI

An owner who wants an answer, not a dashboard

Run the free scan, then the one-off Professional AI Report if the answer matters. You get a verdict in plain English on whether the assistants recommend your business and what to fix first, with nothing to configure.

Where GetRanked AI differs

Built for the moment a customer asks AI

AI Recommendation Intelligence is our term for measuring whether the assistants recommend one business when its customers are looking for one.

A verdict, not a mention count

Monitoring tools report how often a brand appeared across a prompt set. GetRanked AI reports whether the assistants recommend your business when your customers are looking for one, and stops there.

Competitor Capture is discovered, not configured

You do not name competitors in advance or pick who to benchmark against. The report names the businesses the assistants recommend instead of you.

Evidence Coverage explains the silence

The report shows what the assistants could and could not find about your business, so the fixes address the evidence behind the answer rather than the tone of a mention.

Start free, buy once

A free scan and a one-off Professional AI Report for one website, with no subscription needed for either. Ongoing plans are listed on the pricing page but are not yet open for self-serve purchase.

Questions

Questions buyers ask about this category

What is AI brand monitoring?

It is the practice of tracking how often and how a brand appears in the answers AI assistants write. A tool runs a set of prompts against assistants on a schedule and reports mentions, position in the answer, sentiment, share of voice against competitors, and the sources the answers cited. It is the AI version of media and social monitoring.

What is the difference between AI mention monitoring and AI recommendation intelligence?

Mention monitoring counts appearances and reads tone. Recommendation intelligence asks whether an assistant names your business when a customer is choosing one, and which businesses it names instead. A brand can be mentioned often, described positively, and still never be the one recommended, which is why the two measurements can point in opposite directions.

Which AI brand monitoring tool should I choose?

It depends on the job. For mentions beside SEO reporting, Semrush or Ahrefs. For mentions beside traffic and market data, Similarweb. For dedicated daily monitoring, Otterly AI, Peec AI, Scrunch AI, AnswerRank or Goodie AI. For whether assistants recommend your business to a buyer, GetRanked AI.

Do these tools track LLM brand monitoring across every assistant?

Coverage varies by vendor and by plan, and several sell extra engines as paid add-ons. Each comparison page linked from this guide lists the platforms that vendor names on its own pages, and where a page does not name one we make no claim either way.

Is AI reputation monitoring the same as sentiment tracking?

Sentiment tracking is one part of it. Reputation in AI answers also depends on which sources an assistant leans on and whether the facts it repeats about you are correct. Several tools here report cited sources beside sentiment, and some flag claims that do not match a brand's own material.

Do any of these tools guarantee AI will say good things about my brand?

No. Nobody can guarantee what a model will say. Every tool on this page measures and reports; changing the answer is still work you have to do.

How did you evaluate the tools?

We read each vendor's own pages on the date at the top of this guide and recorded what they advertise against nine buyer-relevant criteria. We did not give scores and we did not run paid trials of every product. Where a page does not mention something, the table says not publicly advertised.

Why is GetRanked AI on its own list?

Because we own this site and you should know that before you read a word of it. GetRanked AI sits in the table under the same criteria as everyone else, and every comparison page linked here carries the sources so you can check the claims yourself.

Can I run a monitoring tool and GetRanked AI together?

Yes, and it is a sensible pairing. Keep the monitoring platform for the programme view across prompts and markets, and use GetRanked AI to check the recommendation moment for your own business and to see who captured it.

How current is this guide?

The vendor pages were read on the date shown at the top of the page. Plans, prices and platform coverage change often in this category, so confirm on the vendor's own site before buying.

Sources and trust

Every third-party claim on this page comes from the vendor's own website, read on the date shown, and is repeated with its sources on the linked comparison page. No vendor paid for a place here and none has been scored. GetRanked AI's own method is described on the methodology page.

Vendor sources for every product on this page are listed on its comparison page: Semrush, Ahrefs, Similarweb, Otterly AI, Peec AI, Scrunch AI, Goodie AI.

What this guide deliberately leaves out
  • Any ranking or overall score across vendors: these products measure different things and we did not test them all under one protocol.
  • Engine and platform coverage per plan: the pages read name platforms unevenly, several sell engines as paid add-ons, and some vendor pages disagree with each other about the list.
  • Customer counts, review-site ratings and case study figures printed on vendor sites, for every vendor including us.
  • Prices as figures: the table prints whether prices are published, and the linked comparison pages carry the plan detail as the vendor showed it on the date checked.
  • Profound, Conductor, BrightEdge and AthenaHQ: all monitor brand presence in AI answers, but they are covered on the broader AI visibility guide and their own comparison pages to keep this page on the monitoring job.
