AI recommendation monitoring
Best AI recommendation tools in 2026
Most of these products measure presence. This guide sorts them by the job, and covers which run competitor intelligence on the businesses actually being recommended in your place, with claims taken from each vendor's own pages on a stated date.

The short answer
Which tool should you choose?
If you want to know which businesses an assistant recommends when a buyer asks, and who is named instead of you, the shortest route is GetRanked AI: enter a website, get a report on the Recommendation Gap and Competitor Capture, and a prioritised list of fixes. If you want that question tracked continuously across a prompt set you manage, Otterly AI, Goodie AI and AIclicks all describe recording which rival an answer names, and Semrush uses the language of who AI recommends inside its wider AI visibility toolkit.
Profound, Peec AI and AthenaHQ are adjacent. They benchmark your presence against competitors you choose or against category leaders, which answers a related question: how much of the category conversation you hold. That is share of voice, and it is not quite the same as being the name a buyer is handed.
We call the narrower job AI Recommendation Intelligence. That is our term for it, not an industry standard, and we say so plainly below. Every third-party fact here comes from the vendor's own pages on the date shown at the top.

Measure the outcome before you choose a tool
Most of the products in this category measure presence: how often a brand appears, in what share of answers, with what sentiment. That is a legitimate measurement and several of these tools are good at it.
A recommendation is a different event. It is the moment an assistant is asked who to use and gives one name rather than another. Presence is necessary for it and nowhere near sufficient.
GetRanked AI is built around that moment specifically: whether it happens for your business, who takes it when it does not, and what to change first. The free scan reports it before you buy anything. Where GetRanked AI differs is the competitor intelligence: the GetRanked Algo names the businesses the assistants recommended in your place through Competitor Capture, builds a dossier on each with Competitor Radar, and prints the reason and sources with Decision Trace, all from the answers themselves rather than a list you supply. Staying ahead is the ongoing half: tracked competitors are re-read on the ongoing plans and Recommendation Delta measures which answers you gained and lost between two comparable readings, so you can see whether the gap to the businesses AI names is widening or closing. Those plans are listed on the pricing page and are not open for self-serve purchase yet.
The category
AI Recommendation Intelligence: our term, and what it means
AI Recommendation Intelligence is the term GetRanked AI uses for the category the product is built around. It is our phrase. You will not find it printed on other vendors' pricing pages, and we are not claiming it is an established discipline the way SEO is. We use it because the existing labels, AI visibility, brand monitoring, GEO and AEO, all describe measuring presence, and the thing we measure is narrower than presence.
The narrower thing is this. A prospective customer describes what they need and asks an assistant who to use. The assistant answers with one or a few names. Recommendation intelligence asks three questions about that moment: was this business one of the names, if not then which businesses were, and what could the assistant find or not find about this business that would explain the difference. Everything else follows from those three.
It matters because presence and recommendation come apart. A brand can be mentioned frequently across a tracked prompt set, described in warm terms, and still be absent from every answer where somebody is actually choosing. Counting mentions will show that brand doing well. Reading the recommendation moment will show it losing. The two measurements can disagree, and only one of them maps to a customer walking through a door.
Several vendors are moving in this direction in their own language, which is worth saying because we did not invent the observation. Otterly AI describes citation tracking that records which rival an answer names instead. Goodie AI describes Brand Command as showing whose story wins the recommendation instead of yours. AIclicks logs which brands appear in each answer and which competitors got named for a tracked prompt. Semrush describes tracking how often a brand is mentioned, cited and recommended. What differs between them is scope: those are features inside a monitoring platform you configure, and for GetRanked AI it is the whole product, a verdict per business rather than a feature inside a dashboard.
- AI Recommendation Intelligence
- GetRanked AI's term for measuring whether assistants recommend a specific business to its prospective customers, which businesses they name instead, and what evidence was missing. Our term, not an industry standard.
- Recommendation Gap
- Where an assistant should reasonably name a business and does not.
- Competitor Capture
- The businesses an assistant names instead, discovered from the answers rather than configured in advance.
- Share of voice
- A brand's share of the mentions in AI answers compared with named competitors. Related to recommendation, but a measure of presence rather than of being chosen.
- Evidence Coverage
- What the assistants could and could not find about a business, which is usually what explains the answer.
How we evaluated
What we looked at, and what we did not
We read each vendor's own website on the date shown and recorded what it advertises against nine buyer-relevant criteria, including one that matters most on this page: whether the product shows which businesses an assistant names instead of yours. We did not run paid trials of every product and we give no scores.
A vendor is listed here only where its own pages describe something about recommendations or about who else gets named. Where a page is silent on a capability, the table says "not publicly advertised", which is a statement about the pages we read.
- Principal purposeWhat the product is built to do, in its own terms.
- Recommendation outcomeWhether it tells a business that AI recommends it, rather than counting mentions.
- Starts from your businessWhether you can begin with your website instead of building a prompt project.
- Recommendation GapWhether it shows the buying questions where a business could be named and is not.
- Competitor CaptureWhether it names the businesses the assistants recommend instead.
- Competitor discoveryWhether competitors surface from the answers, or must be known and added first.
- Evidence CoverageWhether it shows which sources shaped the answer and what was missing.
- What to do firstWhether it produces a prioritised list of things to change.
- Plain-English verdictWhether the output is a decision a business owner can act on, not only analytics.
- Try before committingWhether a business can learn something real before paying for a subscription.
- Traditional SEO suiteKeyword research, rank tracking, site audits, backlinks.
- Keyword researchA keyword database and research workflow.
- Backlink databaseA link index and link analysis.
- Content productionWriting, briefs and on-page optimisation.
- Technical auditingCrawling and technical site health.
- Multi-client dashboardsManaging many sites or clients in one place.
- Enterprise integrationsAPIs, warehouses and BI connectors.
- Prompt managementBuilding and maintaining a tracked prompt set at scale.
- Intended customerWho the vendor says the product is for.
- Public pricingWhether prices are published, so a buyer can size a plan before a sales call.

GetRanked AI
GetRanked AI is built around AI Recommendation Intelligence, our term for one clear measurement per business. It measures how leading AI assistants respond when prospective customers are looking for a business like yours, then reports an AI Trust Score, the Recommendation Gap, Competitor Capture and Evidence Coverage, with a prioritised list of fixes written for an owner rather than an analyst.
Fits: A business that wants to know whether assistants put it forward to a buyer, who they put forward instead, and what to change, without configuring prompts or naming rivals first.
Worth knowing: It is not a monitoring platform or an SEO suite: the reading is a verdict on a business rather than a live dashboard. It is bought per website with no cap on how many, and team and agency plans carry multiple client sites and seats. Those monthly plans are listed on the pricing page but are not yet open for self-serve purchase.
Otterly AI
Otterly AI tracks mentions, share of voice, average rank, net sentiment and cited URLs daily for the prompts you choose. Its citation tracking is described as recording every cited URL, whether it names you, and which rival it names instead, and its gap analysis surfaces the prompts where competitors get named and you do not. AI Search Optimization then produces a queue of on-page and off-page actions per engine.
Fits: Small teams and agencies that want the who-got-named question tracked continuously at a small entry price, with API, MCP and Looker Studio access.
Worth knowing: Four engines are included on the entry plan and three more are sold as paid add-ons, with the add-on prices captured only as a range.
Goodie AI
Goodie AI is a full-stack answer engine optimisation platform built as a loop of research, monitor, act and measure. Its Brand Command feature page promises to show where AI gets your brand wrong and whose story wins the recommendation instead of yours, and to measure every answer rather than a sample. Every plan card prints a monthly quota of optimisation actions alongside the monitoring limits.
Fits: Enterprise marketing teams and agencies that want the recommendation view attached to actions and to revenue attribution in one platform.
Worth knowing: The pages do not state whether the raw assistant answer text is shown per prompt, only that every answer is measured.
AIclicks
AIclicks runs daily prompt monitoring with a visibility score, citation position and sentiment, and logs which brands appear in each answer and which competitors got named for a tracked prompt. Its pages state that prompts are sent through the platforms' actual user interfaces rather than APIs, and that you see the full AI answer behind every data point. A Recommendations tab ranks content, source mention and community actions by expected impact.
Fits: Solo founders, small teams and agencies who want to read the answers themselves and act on a ranked list, with an optional done-for-you service.
Worth knowing: Which models are included by default on each plan could not be read: the pricing table shows a choose-from count rather than the base set.
Semrush
Semrush is a full SEO platform whose AI Visibility toolkit tracks how often a brand is mentioned, cited and recommended across AI platforms. Its own pages use the language of which brands AI recommends in a category, benchmarked against competitors you choose, alongside sentiment, AI-Cited Media and prompt research from a large prompt database. An AI search health audit produces a prioritised checklist of fixes.
Fits: SEO teams, agencies and marketers who want recommendation signals reported in the same subscription as rankings, backlinks and site audits.
Worth knowing: The competitor set is chosen by the user, so the view answers who you asked about rather than who the assistants surfaced on their own.
Peec AI
Peec AI tracks visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice daily for the prompts you set up, against competitors you name, with competitor suggestions offered during setup. Source analytics ranks by Gap Score the places where competitors are cited and the brand is not. AI Shopping extends the idea to products, tracking whether individual SKUs appear in AI shopping recommendations with a win rate per product.
Fits: Retail and e-commerce teams that need product-level recommendation data, and marketing teams that want daily analytics with unlimited users.
Worth knowing: Plans were displayed in euros when checked, and per-plan values for countries, languages and competitors could not be read reliably.
Profound
Profound tracks how often a brand appears in AI answers across several engines and regions, with citations, sentiment and accuracy checks, then hands the findings to briefs and content agents that draft and publish. Its competitive benchmarking compares your presence against industry leaders, and Prompt Volumes offers demand data drawn from AI conversations. Monitoring is described across more than 30 languages and more than 150 regions.
Fits: AEO, content and PR teams running a programme across engines and markets who want an execution layer attached to the measurement.
Worth knowing: Only yearly-billed rates were visible on the pricing text checked, and trial terms were stated for one plan only.
AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ measures presence, mentions, citations, sentiment and competitive movement for enterprise teams, and its platform page shows a visibility gap measured against a category leader. Competitive Intelligence is described as seeing who influences answers and why, at brand and at source level, and Opportunity Prioritization ranks the resulting actions into an Action Center. A free Essential tier with a credit allowance is listed on the pricing page.
Fits: Enterprise marketing, PR and content teams, and agencies managing several brands who need single sign-on, audit logs and multi-region support.
Worth knowing: Usage is metered in credits where one credit is one AI response, so the practical scope of a plan depends on how many responses you need.
The buying question
Which of these is built around the recommendation outcome?
Read from each vendor's own pages on the date shown on its comparison page. "Not publicly advertised" means the pages we read do not mention it, not that the capability is absent.

Broader does not mean better for every job. Several of these platforms are far wider than GetRanked AI, and where they are, this table says so plainly. GetRanked AI deliberately does not recreate an SEO suite: it specialises in the measurement above.

Which fits which buyer
Match the tool to the situation
A business owner asking whether AI recommends them
Run the free scan, then the one-off Professional AI Report if the answer matters. You get the Recommendation Gap, the businesses named instead and a prioritised list of fixes, with no prompts to write and no competitors to name in advance.
A marketing team that wants recommendations tracked over time
Both track a prompt set daily and record which competitors got named for each prompt, and both publish their prices. Pair either with a GetRanked AI report when you want an outside read on the same question for your own business.
That measures presence. Whether the assistants actually recommend your business is a narrower reading, and the scan is free.
An e-commerce team worried about product recommendations
AI Shopping tracks whether individual products appear in AI shopping recommendations with visibility, position and win rate per SKU, from a catalogue fetched from Shopify or uploaded as a CSV.
Run the free scan alongside it to see the Recommendation Gap and who captured the answers you are absent from.
An enterprise that needs governance around the answer
All three attach the measurement to workflows: prioritised opportunities, briefs, content agents and attribution, with single sign-on and multi-region support where the plan carries it.
Keep it for the workflow, and use GetRanked AI for the recommendation verdict it is not built to produce.
An SEO lead who already pays for a suite
The AI Visibility toolkit adds mentions, citations and recommendation benchmarking to the platform you already report from, with per-plan prompt limits printed on the pricing page.
That measures presence. Whether the assistants actually recommend your business is a narrower reading, and the scan is free.
Where GetRanked AI differs
Built for the moment a customer asks AI
AI Recommendation Intelligence is our term for measuring whether the assistants recommend one business when its customers are looking for one.
One question, answered end to end
For most platforms, who got recommended is one report inside a monitoring suite. For GetRanked AI it is the entire product: the Recommendation Gap for one business, and nothing you have to assemble yourself.
Competitor Capture is discovered, not configured
You do not choose a competitor set or a benchmark leader. The report names the businesses the assistants recommend instead of you, taken from the answers themselves.
Evidence Coverage explains the result
Knowing a rival was named is only half of it. The report shows what the assistants could and could not find about your business, so the fixes address the evidence behind the recommendation.
Start free, buy once
A free scan and a one-off Professional AI Report for one website, with no subscription needed for either. Ongoing plans are listed on the pricing page but are not yet open for self-serve purchase.
Questions
Questions buyers ask about this category
Which businesses does ChatGPT recommend?
It depends on the question, the wording, the location implied and what ChatGPT can find about each candidate, and the same question asked twice can produce different names. That is why this is a measurement rather than a lookup: a tool has to ask realistic buyer questions and record which businesses come back. GetRanked AI reports the businesses named instead of yours as Competitor Capture.
Can I monitor AI recommendations continuously?
Yes, with a monitoring platform. Otterly AI, AIclicks, Peec AI, Goodie AI, Profound and AthenaHQ all track a prompt set on a schedule and report who appears in the answers, with the cadence and prompt limits printed on their own pricing pages. GetRanked AI produces a verdict per website rather than running a dashboard, and is bought per website with no cap on how many.
What is AI Recommendation Intelligence?
It is our term for measuring whether AI assistants recommend a specific business to its prospective customers, which businesses they name instead, and what evidence was missing. We use it because it is narrower than AI visibility or brand monitoring, both of which measure presence. It is not an industry standard and we do not present it as one.
How is this different from AI brand monitoring?
Brand monitoring counts how often a brand appears in AI answers and how it is described. Recommendation monitoring asks whether the assistant put the business forward at the moment somebody was choosing, and who it put forward instead. A brand can score well on the first and badly on the second.
Do these tools show why a competitor was recommended?
Partly, and in different ways. Several report the sources an answer cited, which is often the clearest explanation: Otterly AI records the cited URLs and whether they name a rival, Peec AI ranks source gaps, and AthenaHQ describes source-level competitive intelligence. GetRanked AI reports Evidence Coverage, meaning what the assistants could and could not find about your business.
Can a tool make an AI assistant recommend my business?
No. Nobody can guarantee what a model will say. These products measure what is happening and point at what to change; earning the recommendation is still your work, and it usually comes down to what an assistant can find and verify about you.
How did you evaluate the tools?
We read each vendor's own pages on the date at the top of this guide and recorded what they advertise against nine buyer-relevant criteria, including whether the product shows which businesses get named instead of yours. We gave no scores and we did not run paid trials of every product.
Why is GetRanked AI on a list it publishes?
Because we own this site and you should know that up front. GetRanked AI appears in the table under the same criteria as everyone else, and every comparison page linked from this guide carries the sources so you can check us as easily as you check them.
How current is this guide?
The vendor pages were read on the date shown at the top of the page. This category changes quickly, so confirm plans, prices and platform coverage on the vendor's own site before buying.

Sources and trust
Every third-party claim on this page comes from the vendor's own website, read on the date shown, and is repeated with its sources on the linked comparison page. No vendor paid for a place here and none has been scored. Where we use our own term for the category, we say so.
Vendor sources for every product on this page are listed on its comparison page: Otterly AI, Goodie AI, AIclicks, Semrush, Peec AI, Profound, AthenaHQ.
What this guide deliberately leaves out
- Any ranking or overall score across vendors: these products do overlapping but different jobs and we did not test them all under one protocol.
- Claims that any vendor cannot show who was recommended: several pages simply do not discuss it, and silence on a page is not evidence of absence.
- Prices as figures: the table prints whether prices are published, and the linked comparison pages carry the plan detail as the vendor showed it on the date checked.
- Case study outcomes and customer counts printed on vendor sites, including AthenaHQ's quantified case studies, because this page carries no performance figures about anyone.
- Ahrefs, Similarweb, Scrunch AI, Conductor and BrightEdge: all report competitor presence in AI answers, but they are covered on the AI visibility and brand monitoring guides and on their own comparison pages.
